suggestions?
actually, i'm asking on behalf of SH, coz we have been thinking for quite some time.... how to promote a lighting shop (its his dad's shop). They sell lighting and fans, and the customers are really varied, so much so that there is not a particular target audience.
The problem is that, it is not sufficient to rely on walk-ins for business and they need ideas on how to increase the traffic to their shop.
my dearest friends who study business (you know who you are, and I know who you are too =P), any great promotional ideas please feel free to suggest! Its time to put what you have learnt to work hehehe.

tot normally lighting shops actually work with contractors? the contractors will actually bring their customers there to select lights and the contractors will earn a commission for that?
i think this will be a more efficient method then doing advertising.. unless the lights tat you sell is like the rustic style, then probably advertising will work bah...
ever consider targeting business consumers... especially retail shops... me work with a lot of spas and i noe some spas actually expand quite fast and normally spas need a lot of lights cos every room need to have their own lightings... so if you can target at such business consumers i think will be better bah..
but again they may get their designers to select the lights also... so in the end still designing firms or contractor company...
anyway this is wat i think lah.. i don't study business so i hope my suggestions don't sound too lame...
hey, thanks! actually they are working with a property developer but then jobs don't come by regularly. If its possible to increase daily walk-ins, that will still be best. I think most people these days like to go shopping for their own lights. How to attract them, thats the question...
quite relevant actually.. haha why not intro your friend to sh's dad's shop =P. give you namecard next time round. know any other ID friends? hehe
